Making home the happiest place in the world starts with making Sekisui House the happiest company in the world.

Creating the new value of happiness from housing as we welcome our 60th Anniversary

Sekisui House celebrated its 60th anniversary in August 2020. In the first phase of that history we established the core of safety and peace of mind, and in the second phase we pursued comfort and environmental performance. Our third phase starts in 2020, and the next 30 years will be the pursuit of happiness in the era of the 100-year lifespan, based on our global vision of “making home the happiest place in the world.” Sekisui House will continue to innovate and transform into a company that delivers a new value of housing-centered happiness, which are the intangible assets of health, connections, and learning.

Becoming a leader in ESG management, with diversity-driven growth

The Sekisui House Group is striving to become a leader in ESG management with diversity-driven growth, as well as contributing to the creation of a better society through our businesses. In June 2020, we set up the ESG Management Promotion Headquarters, through which we will drive initiatives in this next 30-year period to become an even more vibrant organization, a company that is still relevant in society, and that is seen favorably by all stakeholders.

In particular, diversity and inclusion promotion; such as the active participation of women and people from a wide range of backgrounds in our organization; is an important theme in the sociability improvement aspect of ESG management. Enhancing diversity to enable flexible working and living styles that are adaptable to changes in society, and to provide a new value of happiness is based on a flexible mindset and a diverse set of values that are not confined by existing norms. Sekisui House will continue to focus on promoting diversity and inclusion from a long-term perspective.

Creating a workplace for realizing “innovation & communication,” based on the key phrase of “employee happiness”

The Sekisui House Group’s fundamental corporate philosophy is the love of humanity. Guided by this corporate philosophy, all employees will continue to promote innovation and communication.

In September 2018, Sekisui House launched a special childcare-paternity leave program called Ikumen Leave. It encourages male employees, with a child or children under the age of three, to take at least one month off work to focus on childcare. Ikumen Leave started with the desire to first make our employees and their families happy and content, so that they can then make our customers contenthappy. This program is not just for realizing happiness of the individual; it also fosters a workplace culture of cooperation, and is highly praised by our customers as well. Moreover, we have been seeing first -hand how our progressive initiative of Ikumen Leave is also positively impacting society in many ways.

Sekisui House is striving to become a vibrant organization that facilitates “innovation & communication,” and where all employees can work with initiative and flexibly. We will continue to take action to realize employee happiness as we strive to make Sekisui House the world’s happiest company.

Corporate Philosophy

The Sekisui House Group’s fundamental corporate philosophy is the love of humanity: recognizing the irreplaceable value in each and every person, we maintain a fervent hope for the wellbeing of others and a sense of joy in others’ joy, doing whatever we do in good faith and a spirit of service. This philosophy took root in 1989 with the unanimous approval of every group employee.
