Holding The First Women’s College Alumni Networking Event

Hybrid event with 39 in-person participants and 38 virtual

The first Women’s College Alumni Networking Event was held on November 18, 2022, for 129 alumni from the 1st through 7th terms.

<Themes of the event>

  • Building a network beyond terms
  • Reflecting on lessons learned at the Women’s College and clearly envisioning future careers

The company has been committed to an initiative for the active participation of women as a management issue since 2006, believing that “without the active participation of women, our company will not grow.” The Women’s College was launched in 2014 in an effort to increase the number of women in decision-making positions at all levels. We hope that this networking event will have a positive impact on both individuals and the organization by providing a platform for networking beyond their respective terms.

Remembering What They Learned and Leading the Active Participation of Women to the Next Generation

During the networking event, a lecture entitled “How to Pass the Baton—Roles of Those Given the Opportunity—” was given by an Outside Director and a workshop was held with three themes.

Workshop themes

  1. What can we do as alumni of Women’s College?
  2. What can we do to shape the alumni network?
  3. How can we utilize the alumni list?

One of the comments by the participants was “I had a vague idea and pressure to lead the next generations, but this opportunity has tasked me with finding specific ways to make the most of the alumni network, and helped turned that vagueness into a concrete goal for action.” Another stated, “As I learned history focused on women’s rights, I realized that many people have worked on this issue for many years and have created the conditions that allow us to make our best effort in our society today.” Through communications with other alumni who went through the same study program, we saw that the participants were able to reconfirm their positions and clarify what they should do.

In a time when companies are increasingly focusing on non-financial indicators as well as financial ones, the human network of Women’s College alumni is an asset. We recognize that this activity not only contributes to the sustainable growth of the company, but also leads to a better Japanese society for the next generation.
