Sekisui House Selected to CDP A List for All Categories: Climate Change, Forests, and Water Security
The Only Company in Japan’s Housing and Construction Industry to Earn Triple A for the Second Time, Recognized for Pioneering Initiatives and Transparency

Sekisui House, Ltd. / 2025.12.12

Sekisui House, Ltd. was recognized for leadership in disclosure and performance across Climate Change, Forests, and Water Security, being selected for the 2025 A List by CDP, a global organization that evaluates corporate sustainability in environmental fields. This marks the second time Sekisui House has earned Triple A status—the only company in Japan’s housing and construction industry to receive this honor.

CDP runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system and evaluates thousands of companies annually. In 2025, more than 22,100 companies disclosed information through CDP’s platform, of which 20,000 were scored. Achieving an “A” score demonstrates that Sekisui House is recognized as a global leader for comprehensive disclosure, mature environmental governance, and meaningful progress toward environmental resilience.

CDP scoring is based on rigorous and proprietary evaluation criteria aligned with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, assessing the completeness of corporate reporting, understanding of environmental risks, and implementation of best practices such as ambitious target-setting and action verification. CDP also holds the world’s largest corporate environmental dataset and is widely trusted by investors and businesses for guidance on investments and procurement that support a net-zero, sustainable, and earth-positive global economy.

In 2025, 640 institutional investors with a combined $127 trillion in assets requested CDP to gather data on environmental impacts, risks, and opportunities.

Sekisui House aims to be a leading company in ESG management under its global vision to “make home the happiest place in the world.” We will continue to promote these environmental initiatives and contribute to building a sustainable society.

■We believe our selection as an A List company in the Climate Change, Forests, and Water Security categories reflects recognition of the following efforts:

・Climate Change
We actively participate in international initiatives toward decarbonization, such as SBT (Science Based Targets), and disclose climate-related risks and opportunities in line with the TCFD framework while strengthening governance systems. We also joined Global ABC, a global alliance promoting decarbonization in the building and construction sector.
For housing decarbonization, the ratio of ZEH (net zero energy houses) in our detached homes reached 96% in fiscal 2024, and 77% for rental housing. We are also promoting ZEH adoption in condominiums, with all units built since 2023 meeting ZEH standards.
To decarbonize our entire supply chain, we aim for 80% of major suppliers to set SBT targets by 2030 and joined the CDP Supply Chain Program in fiscal 2025 to begin collaborative efforts with suppliers.

・Forests
In 2007, we implemented our own Wood Procurement Guidelines and promoted “FairWood” procurement in collaboration with suppliers, while working together to achieve Deforestation and Conversion Free practices. Since 2001, we have also advanced nature-positive urban environments through our “Gohon-no-ki” Project. As a leading company in environmental sustainability, we will continue to actively disclose risks and opportunities related to natural capital in line with TNFD (Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosure) guidelines.

・Water Security
Our group primarily engages in businesses with low water usage, such as construction and renovation, but we take a medium- to long-term perspective on water risk and place emphasis on securing sustainable water resources to address significant impacts on our business and related supply chains. At our production sites specifically, we work to use water efficiently, for example by utilizing recycled water in our factories.

■Comment from CDP CEO, Sherry Madera
“Congratulations to all companies on CDP’s A List. Businesses earning an ‘A’ score are proving that environmental ambition and commercial strength go hand in hand. High quality data gives leaders the confidence to make earth-positive decisions that secure long-term competitiveness, attract capital and safeguard natural systems. These organisations show what is possible when transparency becomes the foundation for action.”
